Dove policies

Terms & Conditions

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Dove Social LLC. They cover who may use Dove, what you may and may not do here, what you owe us and what we owe you, and how disputes are resolved. Please read section 14, which requires most disputes to go to individual arbitration and waives class actions.

1. The agreement

These Terms form a contract between you and Dove Social LLC, a limited liability company organised under the laws of the State of [state of formation], with its registered office at [registered street address], [city, state, ZIP], United States.

By creating an account, or by using the Dove app or dove-app.com, you accept these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Community Guidelines, and our Cookie Policy. Those documents are part of this agreement. If you do not accept them, do not use Dove.

Where these Terms conflict with the Community Guidelines on a question of conduct, the Community Guidelines govern that question, and these Terms govern everything else.

2. Who may use Dove

You must be at least 18 years old. We ask for your date of birth at sign up and we close accounts that we believe belong to minors. There is no appeal from an age related closure other than proof of age.

You must be legally able to enter a contract, and you must not be barred from using our service under the law of your country or by a previous ban from Dove.

You may not use Dove if you have been convicted of, or are subject to a court order relating to, a felony, a violent crime, or any sexual offence, and you confirm that none of those apply to you each time you use the service. We do not run criminal background checks on members, and you should not assume we have.

One person, one account. Accounts are personal to you and you may not transfer, sell, or share yours.

3. Your account

Keep your login details secret, and tell us at Legal@dove-app.com if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your login.

You must give accurate information. Your photos must be of you, recent, and not misleading. Impersonating another person, real or invented, is a breach of these Terms.

Photo verification is optional, and members may choose to receive messages only from verified accounts. Verification tells other members that your photos match your face. It is not a background check, an identity guarantee, or an endorsement by Dove.

You may delete your account at any time from settings. Deletion is permanent, ends this agreement, and does not automatically refund anything you have paid.

4. What you may not do

Do not harass, threaten, stalk, defame, or incite violence against anyone, on or off Dove.

Do not post or send sexual content involving minors, non consensual sexual content, or content that sexualises a person who has not consented. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and to law enforcement.

Do not use Dove for commercial solicitation, escorting, sex work, recruitment, multi level marketing, cryptocurrency promotion, or fundraising.

Do not ask other members for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or financial details, and do not move conversations to another platform in order to do so.

Do not scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, decompile, use bots or automation against, resell access to, or attempt to breach the security of Dove.

Do not copy, record, screenshot and republish, or otherwise distribute another member's photos, messages, or personal information without their permission.

Do not create an account if you have been banned, and do not help a banned person return.

The Community Guidelines set out these standards in detail, and breaking them is breaking these Terms.

5. Content you post

You keep ownership of the photos, prompts, and messages you create. You are responsible for them, and you confirm you have the rights to everything you upload.

You grant Dove Social LLC a worldwide, non exclusive, royalty free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and distribute your content solely in order to operate, secure, and improve Dove. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for the limited safety and legal reasons described in our Privacy Policy, and except for content another member has lawfully retained in their own chat history.

We do not use your photos in advertising outside the app without asking you first.

We may remove content that breaches these Terms or the Community Guidelines, and we may do so without prior notice where the content is illegal or presents an immediate risk of harm.

6. Safety, and the limits of what we can promise

Dove gives you tools: blocking, in app reporting, photo verification, distance hiding, verified only messaging, and control over who sees you. Use them.

We are not responsible for the conduct of any member, online or in person. We do not vouch for anyone, we do not screen members against criminal or sex offender registries, and a verified badge is only a statement about photos.

Take ordinary precautions: meet in public, tell a friend where you are going, keep your own transport, do not send money, and do not share your home or work address early. Our Safety Hub has more.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then report the account to us.

7. Purchases and subscriptions

If Dove offers paid features, the price, billing period, and renewal terms are shown before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then current price until cancelled.

Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed by that store, and you cancel through your store account, not through us. Cancelling stops the next renewal and does not shorten the period you already paid for.

Except where your local consumer law says otherwise, payments are non refundable and there are no refunds for partially used periods. Residents of jurisdictions with statutory withdrawal or cooling off rights, including the European Union and the United Kingdom, keep those rights in full.

If we close your account for a breach of these Terms, you are not entitled to a refund of unused paid time.

We may change prices. A price change applies from your next billing period, and we will tell you in advance.

8. Suspension and termination

We may warn you, limit your account, remove content, suspend you, or close your account permanently if you breach these Terms or the Community Guidelines, if your account presents a risk to other members, or if we are required to act by law.

Serious breaches, including sexual content involving minors, threats of violence, and financial scams, result in immediate permanent removal and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.

If we take action against your account we will tell you what happened and why, unless telling you would be unlawful or would compromise a safety investigation. You may appeal by writing to Legal@dove-app.com, and a person who was not involved in the original decision will review it. Members in the European Union also have the routes described on our Digital Services Act page.

You may end this agreement at any time by deleting your account.

9. Changes to the service and to these Terms

Dove evolves. We may add, change, or withdraw features, and we may stop offering the service in a country if the law or the economics require it.

We may update these Terms. If a change is material we will give you reasonable notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Dove after that date means you accept the new version. If you do not accept it, delete your account.

10. Third party services

Dove runs on the Apple App Store and Google Play and uses third party providers for hosting, payments, analytics, and moderation. Their terms apply to their part of the experience, and we are not responsible for their services.

Where Apple is involved, you acknowledge that this agreement is between you and Dove Social LLC and not with Apple, that Apple has no obligation to provide support for Dove, and that Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Disclaimers

Dove is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent allowed by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement.

We do not promise that you will find a match, that the service will be uninterrupted or error free, or that any member is who they say they are.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence and for fraud. Consumers keep all mandatory rights under their local law.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Dove Social LLC and its members, managers, employees, and providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Dove is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.

These limits apply to the maximum extent permitted where you live, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case they do not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dove Social LLC from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising out of your use of Dove, your content, your breach of these Terms, or your interactions with any other member, except to the extent caused by our own wrongdoing.

14. Disputes, governing law, and arbitration

These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of the State of [state of formation], United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

Talk to us first. Before starting a formal proceeding, send a written notice of dispute to Legal@dove-app.com describing the problem and the resolution you want. We will try in good faith to resolve it within sixty days.

Binding individual arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, you and Dove Social LLC agree that any dispute will be settled by final and binding arbitration administered by a recognised arbitration provider under its consumer rules, before one arbitrator, in the county of your residence or by video where available. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section.

Class action waiver. You and Dove Social LLC each waive the right to bring or join a class, collective, consolidated, or representative action. The arbitrator may award relief only to the individual party seeking it.

Small claims carve out. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead of arbitration, and either of us may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property or to stop unauthorised access.

Opt out. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing Legal@dove-app.com with your account email and the words "arbitration opt out" within thirty days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other part of this agreement.

This section does not apply where arbitration or a class waiver is unenforceable under the law that protects you as a consumer. In that case disputes go to the competent courts where you live.

15. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

You may not assign this agreement. We may assign it to an affiliate or as part of a corporate transaction.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Dove Social LLC about the service.

Notices to us go to Legal@dove-app.com or to Dove Social LLC, [registered street address], [city, state, ZIP], United States. Notices to you go to the email address on your account or to a message in the app.
