Dove policies

Terms & Conditions

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Dove Social LLC. They cover who may use Dove, what you may and may not do here, what you owe us and what we owe you, and how disputes are resolved. Please read section 14, which requires most disputes to go to individual arbitration and waives class actions.

1. The agreement

These Terms are between you and Dove Social LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company. Its principal office is 2368 N 64th St, Wauwatosa, WI 53213, United States.

By creating an account or using Dove, you agree to these Terms and Community Guidelines. The Privacy Policy explains our data practices; the Cookie Policy explains tracking technologies. Separate consent is required where applicable law requires it, including for biometric processing or optional tracking.

Where these Terms conflict with the Community Guidelines on a question of conduct, the Community Guidelines govern that question, and these Terms govern everything else.

2. Who may use Dove

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to contract. We may suspend an account we reasonably believe belongs to a minor and request appropriate proof of age. We handle any resulting information under the Privacy Policy.

You must be legally able to enter a contract, and you must not be barred from using our service under the law of your country or by a previous ban from Dove.

You may not use Dove if law or a court order prohibits your use or contact with members. We may restrict accounts based on credible safety information or serious misconduct. Dove does not routinely conduct criminal background checks. Do not assume a member has been screened.

One person, one account. Accounts are personal to you and you may not transfer, sell, or share yours.

3. Your account

Keep your login details secret, and tell us at Legal@dove-app.com if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for protecting your credentials and for activity you authorize. Notify us promptly of unauthorized use.

Members must provide truthful information and recent photos of themselves and may not impersonate others or use AI generated faces as their own. Dove separately operates covert, automated safety accounts that may look like ordinary female dating profiles. These profiles may appear in Discovery for a member to like, or may like a member first, and may send a limited series of messages, generally 1 to 15, to assess harassment, racist or hateful language, unwanted sexual messages and other Community Guidelines violations. They are not real people seeking dates. Individual accounts and chats are not labeled as automated. They do not ask members to purchase anything or require payment to reconnect. Interactions may be analyzed in a safety investigation. See the Privacy Policy and AI and Automated Systems section.

Where offered, optional photo verification compares submitted media with profile photos. It is not a background check, legal identity guarantee, or endorsement. Verification that processes facial geometry requires a separate advance notice and affirmative consent where required. See the Photo Verification and Biometric Information Policy.

You may request account deletion in Settings. We remove the profile and associated data, subject to narrow lawful retention described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. Before confirming deletion, we will provide the applicable subscription management path.

4. What you may not do

Do not harass, threaten, stalk, defame, direct hateful or racist abuse at, or incite violence against anyone. Do not repeatedly contact someone after a refusal, a block, or a request to stop. A conversation with a Dove safety account is subject to the same conduct rules.

Do not send unsolicited explicit sexual messages or images, sexual content after the recipient asks you to stop, or sexual content involving coercion, threats, or a minor. A welcome or match does not itself amount to consent to explicit content. Consensual adult discussion is not automatically a violation; context, recipient boundaries and applicable law matter. We may report apparent child sexual abuse material as required by law.

Do not use Dove for commercial solicitation, escorting, sex work, recruitment, multi level marketing, cryptocurrency promotion, or fundraising.

Do not ask other members for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or financial details, and do not move conversations to another platform in order to do so.

Do not scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, decompile, use bots or automation against, resell access to, or attempt to breach the security of Dove.

Do not copy, record, screenshot and republish, or otherwise distribute another member's photos, messages, or personal information without their permission.

Do not create an account if you have been banned, and do not help a banned person return.

The Community Guidelines set out these standards in detail, and breaking them is breaking these Terms.

5. Content you post

You keep ownership of the photos, prompts, and messages you create.

You grant Dove Social LLC a worldwide, non exclusive, royalty free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and distribute your content solely in order to operate, secure, and improve Dove. This license ends after we delete the content from active systems, subject to reasonable backup cycles, limited legal and safety retention described in the Privacy Policy, and copies already delivered to another member that we cannot recall.

We do not use your photos in advertising outside the app without asking you first.

We may remove content that breaches these Terms or the Community Guidelines, and we may do so without prior notice where the content is illegal or presents an immediate risk of harm.

6. Safety, and the limits of what we can promise

If available, Dove provides blocking, reporting, visibility and verification settings. Check the controls currently offered in the app; no feature eliminates risk.

Location controls. Dove uses general location, such as a city, state, region or approximate area, to support discovery. This may come from information you provide or an approximate area inferred from your IP address. If a device location feature is offered, its permission and data practices will be explained before use. Hiding distance affects what other members see; members can manage available discovery and device settings.

Members are responsible for their own conduct. Dove does not endorse members or routinely screen them against criminal or sex offender registries. Nothing here excludes a duty Dove owes under applicable law.

Take ordinary precautions: meet in public, tell a friend where you are going, keep your own transport, do not send money, and do not share your home or work address early. Our Safety Hub has more.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then report the account to us.

7. Purchases and subscriptions

Dove offers paid subscriptions and may sell additional digital benefits designed to help members find more people. Each purchase screen identifies the benefit, price, billing interval or one time status, any trial conversion, usage or expiration limits, applicable taxes, billing platform, and cancellation method before you buy.

For Apple or Google purchases, that store generally processes billing, renewals, cancellation and refund requests under its rules. A subscription renews until cancelled in the relevant store account. Cancellation stops future renewal, while access normally continues through the paid period unless law or store rules require otherwise. For any permitted web purchase, Dove must separately disclose its payment provider and a direct cancellation method.

Except where applicable law or the billing platform provides a refund right, purchases are final and Dove does not provide voluntary refunds for a change of mind, unused time, or unused benefits. Mandatory cancellation, cooling off, disability, death, and other consumer rights where applicable are preserved. Refund requests for Apple or Google purchases follow the respective store process. Any expiration or forfeiture of unused digital benefits must be clearly disclosed before purchase and comply with law.

Account suspension or closure does not eliminate refund rights provided by law or the applicable billing platform. We may revoke access to fraudulently acquired items, subject to applicable law.

We may change a future subscription price only with any notice and consent required by the billing platform and applicable law. The current price and next renewal date remain visible through the store or billing account.

8. Suspension and termination

Moderation is proportionate to context and severity. For a first lower severity violation we may remove content, warn the member, or temporarily limit a feature. Repeated unwanted contact, sexual harassment, repeated hateful language or efforts to evade restrictions may lead to a longer restriction or suspension. Serious threats, exploitation, child sexual abuse material, nonconsensual intimate images, credible violence or significant fraud may lead to immediate restriction or closure without a prior warning. A safety bot flag alone does not automatically suspend an account: a person reviews the conversation and context before any suspension based on that flag.

We may preserve relevant evidence and report serious conduct to appropriate authorities where law requires or permits it. We consider context, severity, prior conduct and the reliability of the evidence. We do not guarantee a particular outcome or response time for any report.

A member may appeal a suspension or account closure through Dove's website, explaining why the decision may be incorrect. A different person from the original decision maker reviews the appeal and relevant evidence. We explain the outcome where reasonably possible, but may limit details to protect safety methods, another person, an investigation or a legal obligation.

You may end this agreement at any time by deleting your account.

9. Changes to the service and to these Terms

Dove evolves. We may add, change, or withdraw features, and we may stop offering the service in a country if the law or the economics require it.

We may update these Terms. If a change is material we will give you reasonable notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Dove after that date means you accept the new version. If you do not accept it, delete your account.

10. Third party services

Dove may use independent stores and service providers. Their separate terms may apply to their services. Dove remains responsible for its own representations and legal obligations.

Where Apple is involved, you acknowledge that this agreement is between you and Dove Social LLC and not with Apple, that Apple has no obligation to provide support for Dove, and that Apple and its subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Disclaimers

Dove is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent allowed by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence and for fraud. Consumers keep all mandatory rights under their local law.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Dove Social LLC and its members, managers, employees, and providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Dove is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.

These limits apply to the maximum extent permitted where you live, and some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case they do not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dove Social LLC from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising out of your use of Dove, your content, your breach of these Terms, or your interactions with any other member, except to the extent caused by our own wrongdoing.

14. Disputes, governing law, and arbitration

Subject to mandatory consumer protections, these Terms are governed by Wisconsin law without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Consumers keep nonwaivable rights under the law of their place of residence.

Talk to us first. Before starting a formal proceeding, send a written notice of dispute to Legal@dove-app.com describing the problem and the resolution you want. We will try in good faith to resolve it within sixty days.

If informal resolution fails, disputes subject to this clause are resolved by individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, before one arbitrator, by video or at a location permitted under those rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this clause. If AAA declines to administer and the parties cannot agree on another provider, either party may ask a court with jurisdiction to appoint an arbitrator or determine the proper forum. Mandatory consumer rights and the exclusions below remain unaffected.

Class action waiver. You and Dove Social LLC each waive the right to bring or join a class, collective, consolidated, or representative action. The arbitrator may award relief only to the individual party seeking it.

Small claims carve out. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead of arbitration, and either of us may seek injunctive relief in court to protect intellectual property or to stop unauthorised access.

Opt out. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing Legal@dove-app.com with your account email and the words "arbitration opt out" within thirty days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other part of this agreement.

This section does not apply where arbitration or a class waiver is unenforceable under the law that protects you as a consumer. In that case disputes go to the competent courts where you live.

15. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

You may not assign this agreement. We may assign it to an affiliate or as part of a corporate transaction.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Dove Social LLC about the service.
