Dove policies

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Dove Social LLC collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the control you have over it. It applies to the Dove mobile app, dove-app.com, and our support channels.

1. Who we are

Dove Social LLC operates Dove and controls the personal information described here, subject to the actual roles of providers disclosed in the Provider Inventory.

Dove Social LLC’s principal office is 2368 N 64th St, Wauwatosa, WI 53213, United States.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at Legal@dove-app.com. Write "Privacy request" in the subject line and we will route it to the right person.

Dove is for adults aged 18 and older. We collect date of birth for age assurance and take appropriate steps when we reasonably learn an account belongs to a minor, including deletion subject to any legal preservation duty.

2. Information you give us

Account details may include your email, date of birth, sign in identifier, authentication credentials or tokens, and records needed to secure your account. Dove uses email code sign in through our authentication provider and offers Google and Apple sign in.

Profile details may include your photos, name, prompts, interests, gender, who you want to see, and dating preferences. Some information may reveal sexual orientation or other sensitive traits.

Photo and age verification uses a verification service to compare live scan frames with profile photos, with manual staff review. Dove's three day deletion policy covers verification photos, live scan frames, provider copies and backups. The process may create or process facial measurements or biometric information.

Location and discovery. Dove uses general location, such as a city, state, region or approximate area, to support discovery. We may process a location you provide and an approximate area inferred from your IP address. A location displayed on a profile and any source location data are different. Hiding your displayed distance changes its visibility, not necessarily the underlying location processing.

Messages and content. We process messages, images and reactions members send, reports they submit, and support chats, including interactions with Dovey. A member may encounter an undisclosed Dove operated AI safety profile in Discovery, may like that profile, or may receive a like from it. We analyze replies to these accounts for harassment, hateful or racist language, unwanted sexual content, threats, scams and other rule violations.

When you buy a paid feature, the store or payment processor handles payment data. Dove may receive transaction IDs, product IDs, subscription status and fraud signals.

3. Information we collect automatically

Device and technical data. Device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone, crash reports, and an app install identifier.

Usage records may include profile browsing, likes and passes, matches, message metadata, settings, paid feature activity, and abuse prevention signals. Dove also records interactions with company operated AI safety accounts and may use automated analysis to flag rule violations.

Approximate network location. Your IP address gives us a coarse location. We use it for security, fraud prevention, and to comply with regional rules. It is not used to place you on a map.

Cookies and similar technologies on dove-app.com. See our Cookie Policy for the detail, including how to refuse anything that is not strictly necessary.

4. Why we use your information and our legal bases

To provide Dove. Creating your account, showing you people who match your discovery settings, delivering messages, and saving your preferences. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.

Safety and moderation. Dove may use covert AI safety accounts that send a limited conversation, generally 1 to 15 messages, to detect harassment, hateful or racist language, unwanted sexual content and other rule violations. Replies may be stored and analyzed. An automated flag triggers review by a person, and a flagged account is not suspended based solely on the bot’s output. The reviewer assesses the conversation and context before a suspension decision.

Photo and age verification. Where required, we obtain separate, informed consent before facial measurements are processed. The notice provided before verification describes the purpose, data involved, retention, deletion, and effect of withdrawing consent.

To improve the product. Dove uses service analytics to understand performance and improve the experience. Legal basis: legitimate interest, or consent where local law requires it.

To communicate with you. Dove sends account and service emails from noreply@dove-app.com. Service messages may rely on contract, and we obtain consent where required for marketing email.

To meet legal obligations. Responding to lawful requests, keeping records we are required to keep, and cooperating with regulators and law enforcement where we are legally required to do so.

5. Sensitive information

Dating preferences and profile information may reveal sensitive information, including sexual orientation. We collect and display only fields you choose to provide, subject to your visibility settings. Where law requires a separate legal basis or explicit consent for sensitive data, we obtain it. Private messages may also contain sensitive information you choose to share.

Verification may involve sensitive facial data. Before processing it, we provide a separate notice with applicable retention and destruction terms and obtain separate affirmative consent where required. We do not use verification data for advertising or sell it.

6. Who we share information with

Other members. Your profile, and anything you send in a chat, is shared with the members you appear to and talk to. Do not put anything on your profile you would not want a stranger to see.

We disclose personal information to hosting, authentication, storage, verification, email, payment, and support providers only as needed to deliver their services. Google and Apple receive information when you choose their sign in options. Current categories are listed in our Production Provider Inventory.

Safety and legal. Law enforcement, regulators, or other parties where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, or is necessary to prevent serious harm, fraud, or a threat to someone's life or safety.

Corporate transactions. If Dove Social LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7. International transfers

If Dove offers service outside the United States, personal information may be processed in the United States and other provider locations.

You can ask us for a summary of the transfer safeguards that apply to you by writing to Legal@dove-app.com.

8. How long we keep information

Account and profile information is retained while your account is active. Deletion removes your public profile and begins deletion of associated personal information, subject to reasonable backup cycles and specific legal, safety, fraud, payment or dispute retention. Dove deletes verification photos and live scan frames within three days, including provider copies and backups under its verification process.

Safety bot and moderation evidence. Dove deletes unflagged safety bot conversations within 30 days. It deletes flagged case conversations, reviewer notes and supporting evidence within 90 days after the decision or appeal closes. A documented legal hold or continuing safety need may require longer retention; access must be limited and the exception reviewed periodically. Backup copies expire according to a documented backup deletion cycle.

We retain support conversations and Dovey interactions only as long as needed to respond, keep the service secure, and meet legal obligations.

9. Your rights

Everywhere. You can see and edit most of your information in the app, change your discovery and privacy settings at any time, and delete your account from settings.

Europe and the United Kingdom (GDPR and UK GDPR). You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to processing, the right to data portability, the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. Where you object to processing based on legitimate interests, we stop unless we have compelling grounds.

California residents may have rights to access, correct, delete and limit certain sensitive data uses, as well as opt out of any sale or sharing if applicable.

Residents of other states may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain copies, opt out of certain processing and appeal denials, depending on applicable law. We provide the rights required where you live and explain how to exercise them below.

Canada (PIPEDA). You may access and correct your personal information and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Brazil (LGPD). You have the rights of confirmation, access, correction, anonymisation, portability, deletion, and information about sharing, and you may complain to the ANPD.

Australia (Privacy Act). You may access and correct your personal information and complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

To exercise any right, write to Legal@dove-app.com from the address on your account, or use the in app tools.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information.

No service is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information and creates a risk to you, we will notify you and the relevant regulators in the time our law requires.

Please use a strong, unique password, and tell us at Legal@dove-app.com if you think someone else has access to your account.

11. Your choices and controls

Visibility. Turn off "Show me on Dove" to take your profile out of Discover while keeping your matches and chats.

Distance. Turn on “Hide my distance” to remove displayed miles from your profile where this control is offered. Your general location may remain visible. This setting does not necessarily stop the app from using general location for discovery.

Activity. Turn off the active indicator so people cannot see when you were last online.

Who can message you. Restrict conversations so that only photo verified members can start one.

Discovery. Set your age range, who you are interested in, and the general location options offered in the app.

Notifications. Dove currently sends email notifications only. Choose available email preferences for matches, likes, messages and announcements where offered; marketing emails require any legally required consent. No push notifications are currently offered.

Account deletion. Use Settings to request deletion, including associated profile content. We will explain any retention and expected completion period. If you have a store subscription, cancel it through Apple or Google; account deletion alone does not stop store billing.

12. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the product or the law changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version.

If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent.
